The future of our fast-growing community depends on residents working together to make Severance a great place to live! And right now is a great time to become involved. We hope you’ll take this opportunity to represent your neighbors, and the community, by completing a simple online form and submitting a letter of interest for one (or more) of the following openings.
Board of Trustees – 1 Open Seat
A member of the Town Board must be a resident and a qualified elector of the Town of Severance for a minimum of one year prior to their appointment (Note: previously released information stated, “… a minimum of two years …” this information was incorrect), and they may not hold any other public office or any position within the Town government. Although no specific experience is necessary as a prerequisite to this appointment, special consideration will be given to applicants who have experience or education in local, state, or federal government, planning, law or a related field.
Planning Commission – 2 Open Seats
The Planning Commission is an advisory board to the Town’s Board of Trustees. The Commission reviews new development requests, re-zoning requests, and most land use requests submitted to the Town. Their important recommendations to the Board of Trustees impact approval or denial.
Town Tree Board – 2 Open Seats
The Tree Board is made up of residents and Town staff members and helps create, oversee, and manage standards for the planting of trees on Town property including; parks, open spaces, and the areas between streets and sidewalks. Would you like to contribute to the look and feel of our community – now and in the future? There are 2 immediate openings – one permanent seat and one “alternate” seat.
Applications for all open seats will be accepted until Wednesday, April 17 at 4:00 PM. For questions, or additional information, please contact Nicholas Wharton, Town Administrator, at 970-686-1218.
